So, on July 14th, I gave Lily some peanutbutter on her toast in the morning. She has had PB before but for some reason, she has a major reaction to it this time! Her face became very swollen and she had trouble breathing. I panicked and called 911. We took the ambulance to the hospital where they just monitored her and gave her Benadryl. Thank you to Megan for picking us up from the hospital when the ambulance stranded us there! It all eventually passed through her system but took a full 24 hours before all the rash and swelling were gone. She was a trooper through the whole thing. We are now in the process of getting her tested. We are making sure she doesn't have any kind of nuts and stay away from anything with peanut oil in it. We carry around a bottle of Benadryl and an Epi pen with us at all times.
Here are a couple of pictures I took of Lily about 6 hours after her initial reaction. She looks 100 times better in these pictures than when she first reacted. I took pictures because I wanted people to be educated on how severe and quickly these reactions occur. I still cry when I look at these pictures but they also remind me that life is full of surprises that most of the time we are able to work through.
