Well, she's here!
Lily Amelie Mitchler
On May 6th, we went in the morning to the hospital for the second round of induction. Shortly after the appliation, I started to feel some contractions. They decided to admit us, after a long debate, as there wasonly 1 bed left (which should be left open for emergencies). We wereadmitted into our room and were waiting for the doctor to check on our progress. After checking, the doctor mentioned that she would like to breakmy water, but it was just too busy to do so, as there were 5 other firsttime mom's already labouring on the floor and it would be too much if I started as well. But ironically, my water broke only an hour later on it'sown! Things started to move quickly! My mom and sister, Karen as well as Kevin (ofcourse) were in the room the whole time. It was so comforting to have them there during the labouring. I used the nitrous oxide for pain but needed some morphine later on. The doctor checked again and suggested thatan epidural would help the baby to come down, as she was riding high still. So, luckily, the anesthetist was just next door and put in the epidural rather quickly. Really soon after that, I had an urge to push. And less thanan hour later, she arrived! :) She had a little bit of a fever when she arrived, but it came down soon after. After being stitched up, I finally got to hold our baby girl, our Lily! The immediate family came in right aftershe was born, which was so great! (even though house keeping hadn't been in to clean up properly yet! I apologize for that, you guys!)
She weighed 8lbs 5 oz and was 21 inches long. She has a lot of dark brown hair with blonde highlights! (Don't know where the highlights came from!)She has long fingers and beautiful big blue eyes. Not really sure what features are from which of us, but that's ok. She's perfect. We spent Sunday and Monday night at the hospital and came home on Tuesday afternoon. She has the most wonderful temperament. She sleeps A LOT andbarely cries. She is feeding well, after a little bit of a struggle (Mom's know what I'm talking about!). She still has her nights and days mixed up but we'll figure out a schedule sooner or later. She moves around a lot, loves having her hands free and feet out of the blanket! We found out shedoesn't like Kevin's singing, which is hilarious. The cats are slowly adjusting. Bert likes to peek over her basinet to see where the squirmingnoises are coming from. Moxie likes to watch us feed and change her, she'salmost protective of her. We hope they will all get along soon.
We are absolutely in love with her! We are so excited to have everyone meether. We are going to attempt to take her to church for Mother's Day on Sunday. So, we'll see how her first outing goes. We have to shop for some pretty dresses now that we know she's a girl :)
Thanks to everyone for their support and love and messages of congratulations. We are so blessed and are so lucky to have all of you in our lives.
